Well, it’s a rainy day and I don’t work ’till 5:30 so I thought I would take the time to update every one on my life. Life remains simple; beach, work, church, more beach, eat, drink, sleep. . . Although, I must say, I have gotten out more over the last few weeks.

Mitch and I took a trip to the east coast, Cocoa Beach to be exact, a few weeks ago. We went to visit some friends of ours who were having a party. It was a three hour drive one-way. We spent some quality time on the beach, that is until the rain came. It was fine though, our friend Hillery’s parents were having a feast at their house. We stayed up all night and Mitch and I drove back at 5AM so I could be at work by 9:30AM. I was so exhausted, it was so worth it though.

Last weekend I found out that a couple of my Kansas City friends were in Florida about an hour and a half away from my place in Saint Pete. We planned on meeting up and going to Adventure Islands, a water park that is significantly cheaper than Busch Gardens– gotta pay rent ya know? However, to my surprise, David’s parents said they would pay for all three of us to go to Busch Gardens!!!! What a blessing! But that’s not even the best part; for the same price as an out-of-state admission, a Florida resident can get a year pass! So, long story short, I got a free year-long pass to Busch Gardens! How awesome is that! Once I found out that we were going to Busch Gardens I remembered that some friends of mine in Orlando also had year-long passes so I called them and they came and stayed with us for the weekend too! All-in-all it was a fantastic weekend.

So, life is great. I am going to be starting school again in the fall; I absolutely cannot wait. Work is going well too, it could be busier but I can’t complain too much. I’m also excited for my 21st, which is coming up in August. I’m beginning to become acquainted with the Saint Pete area, and I can’t wait to see what all I will get to do over the next few months. I’m done rambling for now though. I’ll put up some recent pics for you to see.

It’s getting hot.

Well, life is good. Yesterday, Mike and I went to Indian Rocks Beach to skim board. The waves were great, some were shin to chest high. It felt great to get out and get some sun. The summer heat is finally getting here, we have had a few days in the 90’s now. Should be a nice hot summer πŸ™‚ I can’t wait for hurricane season! Work, however, is slow slow slow. If it doesn’t improve quickly I’m going to be job hunting. I’m a big boy now. . . I’ve got bills to pay. But, forget work, tomorrow Mitch and I are driving to the east coast for a partay at our friend Hillery’s place. Should be a good time! Well, I’m off to work. Goodbye world for now.

It has been far too long.

Well,I admit that I am not the ideal blogger. I underestimated how difficult it is to sit down and write something every day. Something so seemingly easy has proven to be a true challenge for me.

Well, what is new in the life of Nathan Miller? I have been living in Saint Petersburg, Fl now for four plus months. I have a wonderful home in the Old Northeast area of St. Pete, and I love my two other roommates; Mike and Domini and I get along together quite well.Β  I should really say that I have three other roommates; Along with Mike and Dom our friend Mitch stays with us often. It is quite the story how Mitch came along. A year or so ago Domini flew to Arizona so she could drive back to Florida with her best friend Kizzy. Kizzy, like me, was ready for a change of pace and decided to move to Florida too. Well, as the story goes, as they drove across our great country they became bored. In the midst of their boredom Domini happened to notice that the truck driving next to them had two “cute” boys inside. She wrote on a piece of paper the following message– TEXT ME (with her phone number in large print)– and held it up against her window. Much to the surprise of Kizzy and Domini the endeavor succeeded. As it turns out, Mitch, the driver, was moving from California to St. Pete. We have been dear friends with Mitch ever since. It truly is a great story and I am afraid that I didn’t do well in explaining it.

Well, other than that life is fairly simple for me. I’m single, not currently in school, and so that leaves work. Mike and I work together at a Macaroni Grill. It’s a fine place to work for now. Let’s just say I can’t wait to get back in school. I can not stand having nothing to do. Although, I just splurged and bought a keyboard again. It is a nice Casio, 88 keys with a sustain pedal. I am looking forward to playing again. It has been a while. Perhaps I can start spending my free time on something useful πŸ™‚

Bills suck!!! It is hard to stay ahead. . . where does all the money go??? Anyone want to donate to the Nate Fund?

Hmmm, what else is there? Oh, we have a canoe now! It is so much fun, it weighs a ton though so it is hard to get it to the water. Mike and I need to build some wheels of some sort so we can just pull it. We also need to buy a lawn mower cause our lawn is already starting to grow fast.

In other news, I have just discovered the wonder of Pandora online radio. I have really been enjoying discovering new artists like Brett Dennen and Amos Lee. Good stuff. Well I have to get up early tomorrow so that is all for now. Night world.

An update at last. . .

Hello there!

It has been far too long since I have spent some quality time with my keyboard. I guess I should say my keyboard and some good music. Sarah gave me a lot of new music and I am currently enjoying some new melodies from Iron and Wine. Very smooth and peaceful πŸ™‚ I should note that now my iPhone no longer has any space left on it ha. Well, back to the subject. I have traveled some 1300 miles from my former home in Prairie Village, KS to Saint Petersburg, FL. Though long, my trip was very smooth. I drove 15 hours the first day and stayed in a hotel somewhere outside of Atlanta, Kenenesaw if I remember correctly. Before we left Kansas we had planned on driving half way, which would have been 9 hours, but we didn’t realize that the hotel we booked and paid for was a lot farther than we thought. It’s funny, when you mentally prepare to drive a pre-determined distance it is so difficut to drive any farther. However, after a good night sleep we were off again only to land safely at my house in St. Pete roughly 9 hours later.

I was able to unpack everything over the next several days and was able to get all the furniture I needed for $150 dollars! Thank goodness for Craigslist. A bit about the house. . . Domini (my non-blood related older sister), Mike (my best-friend), and I found the most perfect place in Saint Petersburg. It is a three bedroom, two bathroom home located on a golf course in a beautiful way upper class neighborhood. When I say “way upper class” I’m not joking. The golf course is a private club, called the Vinoy,Β  and although our street is modest the neighborhood as a whole is affluent and appears to be home to many of Saint Pete’s upper crust. Mike and I long-boarded around our neighborhood tonight and there are so many beautiful homes and the views of the water are breathtaking. 100 feet from our home is the water with a great boat ramp and dock. We can walk out our back door and be fishing in minutes. Plus, we discovered that if we stand out by the dock at sunset when the boats come in, the fisherman will give us their extra live bait! BONUS! Especially when we are poor college kids and live bait shrimp are 5-9 dollars a dozen.I will try to post some pictures of our home and perhaps even a video in a day or two.

I’m starting work tomorrow at a Macaroni Grill in Tyrone Square. I’m excited to start working again but somehow Macaroni Grill won’t be the same for me. So much of what I loved about Macaroni Grill were the people I worked with. Plus, now I have some proving to do. I’m a hard worker though so I am believing that it won’t be long before I’m apart of another Mac family.

Yesterday Domini, Mitch, Mike and I went out to Safety Harbor to attend a bond fire hosted by a High School friend of Mikes. We had a great time and it was fun to meet some new people. After the bond fire thoughΒ  we came home hungry and I opted to eat some of my Mom’s brown breakfast bread, a Miller family tradition. I tell this because as I went to cut into the bread my knife struck something hard, metallic like. . . my mom had left the mixing spoon in the bread by accident ha ha. I had to call her and give her a hard time. She said she had been calling people whom she had given bread too. I told her this was almost as bad as when she made tuna-noodle-casserole and forgot to add the tuna πŸ™‚

I am thoroughly enjoying myself so far here in Florida. There are parts that I miss like my Kansas City friends, my familiarity with the area, my Mom and Pops, and my dog Snicker, and my damn dishwasher ha (Good lord I have never had to do so many dishes) but as is to be expected there are parts that I don’t miss. I sure am enjoying being able to set my dinner down on the coffee table without worrying if Snicker is going to eat it ha ha. Overall though, I am so excited to see how my life will have changed in a year’s time.

Well, I think that’s all I am going to write for now. I have work in the morning and it’s getting late. Goodnight for now.

Love, Nate

Getting settled in. . .

Well, over the last several days I have had quite the journey. I have officially uprooted myself, traveled 1200 plus miles, and landed in sunny Saint Petersburg, Florida. The trip went well– two days of long driving– but I made it safe and sound. Last evening I got everything unpacked and my room all set up. I’m happy, everything is looking great. I should be able to put some pictures up soon and perhaps even a video or two. That’s it for now; more is sure to come later.

I’m here!

Well, I made it! I’m loving every moment of my new life here as of now. Unfortunately I have yet to set up my computer so you will have to wait for a detailed account of my journeys until later. Love you all!
